FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY
Families are messy and loud and wonderful, and that’s exactly what I want to capture. Not the everyone-hold-still-and-smile version of your family — the real one. The toddler who won’t sit still, the grandparent who can’t stop laughing, the in-between moments that somehow say everything.
I work with families of all ages, from the tiniest newborns to the grandparents who’ve seen it all, and I’ve found that the best shots almost never happen when everyone’s posed and ready. They happen when you’ve forgotten I’m there.
So that’s my whole approach, really — just giving your family a bit of time and space to be yourselves, and being ready when the magic shows up.
What To Expect
A family shoot is a lot more relaxed than most people expect — there’s no need to stress about posing or keeping the kids perfectly behaved, because the best photos rarely come from either of those things. We’ll spend the time just hanging out, having a laugh, and letting things unfold naturally.
After the session, I’ll go through all the images and carefully select around 30 of the best ones from the day — the ones that capture the real moments, the expressions, and the little details that make your family yours. Your session includes all of these as digital images, delivered ready for you to keep, share, and print as you wish. You will be able to download the high and low resolution version of your images through a private gallery that I will be putting online. You can share the photos with family and friends and also decide who has access to download or just view your images. There’s no pressure to buy anything else — what you get is already something really special.
That said, if you do want to take it a step further, albums, prints, and frames are all available after the session. There’s something really different about seeing your family as a physical print rather than a quick scroll on your phone. A beautiful album or a framed print on the wall is something the whole family will come back to again and again, and something worth passing down over the years.
FAMILY SESSIONS
At Home
Family sessions at home are a great opportunity to capture your family in a space that’s truly yours. Don’t worry about tidying everything to perfection or having the kids in matching outfits (unless that’s your thing!).
We’ll find a spot in your home with the best natural light — this could be the bedroom, the lounge, or even the kitchen — wherever the light is falling nicely on the day. I’ll always have a flash with me just in case, but natural light is hard to beat and we’ll make the most of it wherever we can find it.
The whole session is relaxed and led by you and your family, so if the little ones want to run around, hide under blankets, or ignore me entirely for a bit, that’s completely fine. The best moments usually come from just doing your normal thing while I hang around in the background. It’s fun, it’s low-pressure, and it’s all about capturing your family as you actually are.

Outdoors
Outdoor sessions at the park, or anywhere else, are a fantastic way to combine photography with play — especially for little ones. They have space to run, explore, and just be themselves, which always makes for the most natural, joy-filled photos.
Autumn is a particularly lovely time for these sessions. The golden leaves, soft light, and warm tones create a beautiful, cozy backdrop — and the temperatures are still mild enough for everyone to feel comfortable. Plus, we’re not limited to shooting at specific times of day, as the light tends to stay soft throughout, as long as the weather is kind to us.
In the summer months, timing becomes a bit more important. The light is strongest and harshest in the middle of the day, which isn’t ideal for portraits. To get that soft, flattering glow, it’s best to plan our session later in the evening, close to 18:30. That way, we avoid the harsh midday sun and get that beautiful golden-hour magic.
Some of my favourite parks are Battersea Park, Richmond Park and Holland Park but you are more than welcome to choose your favourite.
In Studio
When people think of studio photography, they often imagine stiff, posed portraits — but that couldn’t be further from the truth. A studio can actually be a great space for relaxed, playful sessions. While we are working in a smaller area with controlled lighting, that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun.
In fact, the cosy setting can be a real advantage — especially with little ones. There’s no need to chase them through a park or worry about the weather, and the consistent lighting allows us to create beautifully lit, timeless portraits every time.
The studio also gives us room to get creative. We can switch up backdrops, try different outfits, and experiment with styling to really capture your family’s personality. You’re more than welcome to bring along any props, toys, or even your family pet to make the session your own!
You can choose between a studio in North Kensington or Wandsworth.

FAQ
Do I need to prepare anything?
Not really in term of poses or brief the kids. The less you overthink it, the better the photos tend to be.
That said, a little bit of preparation does make a difference. If we’re shooting at home, it’s worth having a tidy beforehand — not a deep clean, just clearing the obvious stuff. Cables on the floor, dirty dishes, anything cluttered on surfaces. You don’t need a magazine-worthy home, just a calm backdrop that doesn’t distract from you and your family. A few fresh flowers dotted around always look lovely too.
For clothes, keep it relaxed and natural. At home, pyjamas and casual loungewear actually work brilliantly — they’re cosy, they’re real, and they photograph really well. Whatever you’d normally wear on a lazy Sunday morning is usually perfect. Try to avoid anything with big logos or branding on it, and steer clear of black, white and neon colours, which can be tricky in photos.
For outdoor sessions, think layers and texture rather than anything too synthetic or puffy. Wool coats, knitwear, scarves and boots all come up beautifully. Leave the shiny padded jackets at home if you can. And if you have a dog — absolutely bring them. Pets are always a brilliant addition and tend to bring out the most natural, relaxed moments of the whole session.
Do you do posed photos?
I might suggest a loose setup occasionally — like everyone sitting together on the grass — but I won’t be directing you like a school photo. Mostly I just watch, move around quietly and catch what’s already happening.
How long does a family session last?
Usually a couple of hours. If you’re not sure what works for your family, just ask and we’ll figure it out together.
What if the weather is terrible?
It happens — this is London after all. For outdoor sessions we can reschedule without any fuss. Sometimes overcast days actually make for lovely soft light, so don’t panic if it’s not blue skies.
