A Christening To Remember: Another Little One Who Didn’t Shed a Single Tear
A christening is such a special milestone — a moment where faith, family and love all come together in one place. And this one was no different. Family and friends had travelled all the way from Greece to be there for this special occasion — a small but lovely gathering, all together to witness the ceremony. From the family portraits to the most important moment of all: the baptism itself, there was so much to capture.
If there’s one thing we all know about christenings, it’s that there is an unwritten rule: the moment the holy water touches the baby’s skin, or the ritual begins, tears almost always follow. It’s such a common part of the ceremony that I even found myself mentally preparing for it, ready to capture those gentle, comforting moments that usually come next.
But on this day things were not the same..
As the priest led the service and brought the baby to the font, a hush fell over the whole church. I could feel it in the air — everyone around me, myself included, was leaning in just a little closer, eyes fixed on the baby, quietly waiting for that first little cry. People glanced at each other, exchanging small, knowing looks, as if to say “It’ll happen any second now.”
Only… it never did.
The priest poured the holy water gently over his forehead — no reaction. He was anointed, wrapped in soft white cloth, passed carefully between his parents and godparents, held over the stone basin, and blessed with prayers… and through every single step, not a sound. No fuss, no tears, not even a tiny whimper. He simply looked around, bright-eyed, curious, and completely serene, as if he felt utterly safe and at peace in the middle of this sacred moment.
Around the church, I could see the doubt and surprise spreading across faces. People raised their eyebrows, smiled in disbelief, and looked at one another as if to confirm: “Is he really not crying?” I even paused behind my camera for a moment, just as amazed as everyone else. It was such a rare and wonderful sight — and it made the whole session a dream.
Later, at the reception, the story continued. I captured the family portraits, guests chatting and raising glasses, the guest book being filled with wishes, and the little keepsakes laid out on the tables — and there he was again, still wide awake, happy, and as calm as could be.
Looking back through all the images now, it feels like such a privilege to have been there to document this unique day. You never know what lovely surprise each event will bring. This little one gave everyone present a memory to treasure forever: a christening marked not by tears, but by perfect, peaceful poise.
