I recently had the joy of photographing a lovely christening at St John’s the Baptist Church — a truly beautiful and peaceful spot that set the perfect tone for the day. The church has this calm, welcoming feel to it, with a little altar dedicated to christenings only, not to mention the most outhearted and joyful priest, which created the kind of atmosphere I love working in — gentle, warm, emotional but also enjoyable and fun.

The star of the day was little Irene, and what a little sunshine she was! She was so cheerful from the very beginning, all smiles and curiosity and guess what; she didn't shed a tear! It’s always such a pleasure to photograph a baby who’s clearly happy and surrounded by so much love. She didn’t seem fazed by all the attention — just took it all in, bright-eyed and beaming.

What made the day feel really special was how relaxed everyone was. As a photographer, I like to keep things simple and easygoing — I blend in quietly, gently guiding when needed, but mostly letting moments unfold naturally. That’s when the most beautiful photos happen: a proud smile from a parent, a soft kiss on the baby’s head, a shared laugh between family members.

The ceremony itself was heartfelt and full of emotion, but never too formal. That balance — of reverence and warmth — was lovely to witness and to capture.

Afterward, we had time for some relaxed group shots and a few quiet moments with Irene and her family, all without rushing or staging too much. Just natural, honest moments that reflect the feel of the day.

Looking back at the photos, I’m reminded of how special it is to be trusted with capturing memories like these. It’s not just about the big moments, but the little ones in between — and with families like Irene’s, those moments are to be treasured not only by them but by myself to.
